Antarctica season is between November until March

Antarctica is the highest, windiest, driest and coldest continent on earth. It owns 84% of the continental ice and has the most active glacier dynamics in the world. This extraordinary quantity of ice accounts for 70% of the earth’s fresh water. With an average height of nearly two thousand meters above sea level, the white continent outstrips Asia, the second highest continent in the world (960 meters). With winter temperatures ranging between -40 ° and -70 ° C, the Antarctic climate is considered extreme cold. However, Antarctic climate can be divided into three climatic regions well defined: The interior, coastal, and the Antarctic Peninsula and its adjacent islands. It’s in the latest where, thanks to the moderating effect of the sea and its relative position to the rest of the continent, the weather conditions get to be a bit more benign for life, and the region’s biodiversity flourishes in abundance. This is also where each austral summer, thousands of visitors come on expedition cruises to marvel at this real land records. Ninety percent of trips to the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands leave from the magical city of Ushuaia, Argentina, and is reached by crossing the dreaded Drake Passage, perhaps one of the most feared and famous oceans of world. The ferocious winds and raging waves that must endure today’s travelers, give credit to the famous legends of ancient mariners. The days in Antarctica are filled with landings, by watching birds, seals and whales, with zodiac cruises among icebergs, and a frozen landscape everywhere we look. Antarctica is ruled by the Antarctic Treaty. No nation has sovereignty over the continent or any part of it. It is the only continent on earth where peace and scientific cooperation has been more than economic interests of individual nations. It is a land of ice and endless white, that feeds our hope that forever this continent will remain as it is, a place that does not belong to anyone and belongs to us all. The Antarctic Peninsula offers the opportunity to have an amazing experience, sailing through narrow channels between steep mountains with ice caps and glaciers. Visiting breeding penguin colonies, seals and whales along the way. Your yacht can also take you to some subantarctic islands like South Georgia and Falkland (Islas Malvinas) Islands and enjoy the wonders of nature and the expectacular variety of wildlife.

Flexibility is paramount for expedition cruises.

The itinerary is for guidance only. The program may vary depending on local ice and weather conditions, the availability of landing sites and opportunities to see wildlife. The final itinerary will be determined by the Captain on board.
